Pilomatricomas can be tricky because the inflammation around them from pressure on soft tissues is very well vascularized and easily bleeds, so they can be messy. Also, the growths tend to be chunky and loosely connected with a thin membranous lining. Kind of like a bunch of pebbles pressed together into one hard mass.
