This is a perfect example of a cyst becoming inflamed, bursting inside, starting to leak at the surface through two different sinus tracts. However, we caught it before the cyst wall had completely broken down into mush. We caught it in “transition.” You can see how brittle the cyst lining is when I stretch it. In another week the skin would have swelled more, and the contents of the cyst and cyst wall would have been broken down into a liquid, mushy consistency by inflammatory cells migrating to the area, and a large abscess would have formed.
